A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself. 1. Check and reset the breakers related to the central air conditioning system and the furnace they are 2 separate breakers in the main electrical panel as well as the disconnect box or toggle switch often located near the furnace. 2. Make sure that the thermostat is positioned on "cool" and check the batteries if applicable. 3. Lower the thermostat at least 3 degrees below room temperature. 4. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be cleaned or changed. 5. Check the vents to make sure that the air coming out feels cooler then the room temperature. 6. If the system is still not functional, contact me for an appointment 636-464-HVAC Q: My heat-pump does not work, what should I do? A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself. 1. Check and reset the breaker related to the heat-pump system and the furnace or air handler (with electric heat) they are 2 separate breakers in the main electrical panel as well as the disconnect box or breaker often located near the air handler. 2. Make sure that the thermostat is positioned on "heat". 3. Raise the thermostat at least 2 degrees above room temperature and check the batteries if applicable. 4. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be cleaned or changed. 5. Check the vent to make sure that the air coming out feels warmer then the room temperature. 6. If the system is still not functional, contact me for an appointment 636-464-HVAC Q: My gas furnace does not work, what should I do? A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself. 1. Check and reset the breaker related to the furnace system for 30 seconds in the main electrical panel as well as the disconnect box or toggle switch often located near the furnace. 2. Make sure that the thermostat is positioned on "heat" and check the batteries if applicable . 3. Raise the thermostat at least 5 degrees above room temperature. 4. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be cleaned or changed. 5. Is the pilot lit? Note only older furnaces have pilots most of everything past 1990 has electric ignition. 6. Are your other gas appliances working? 7. Check the ventilation outlets to make sure that the air coming out feels warmer then the room temperature. 8. If the system is still not functional, contact me for an appointment 636-464-HVAC Q: There is ice accumulating on my system, what should I do? A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself. 1. Check your thermostat to make sure that it is not below 72 degrees F / 21 degrees C. 2. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be cleaned or changed. 3. Make sure you are not blocking or have closed off to many vents or restricted any return air openings. 4. If the system is still developing ice, contact me for an appointment 636-464-HVAC Q: There seems to be a lot of condensation on the outdoor unit. Is this normal? A: This is very normal especially when the outdoor humidity is elevated. Q: Water is leaking out of my indoor central system. What should I do? A: There are several things you can do to check the system yourself. 1. Check the temperature of the air coming directly out of the vent. There air supply should feel obviously cooler then room temperature. 2. Make sure that the system air filters are clean. If they are dirty, the filters may need to be cleaned or changed. 3.
